“Why Tell Others When You Can Tell Mum?” – The Baileys Campaign That Took The Internet By Storm

Nigerians have expressed their excitement as Baileys Nigeria’s “Why Tell Others When You Can Tell Mum?” campaign took the internet by storm.

The campaign which is an extension of the widely accepted “Love is” campaign is set to encourage appreciation of mothers among people for this year’s commemoration of Mothers’ day.

The following are the lessons learnt from the campaign since its launch on Monday 20th March, 2017:

  • Forget the norms – Tell Mum you love her!

There is this rather erroneous belief that mothers are super humans who get to know what they are not told, or shown; No! They need to be told and shown. Gone are the days of assumption, this campaign opened people’s eyes that it is high time people started voicing out their professed love for their mothers!

Social media reactions from some top blogs revealed this as 3 out of every 4 comments pledged to indulge their mothers following the #PledgeToIndulgeHer hashtag.

  • Mothers appreciate love, show them!

A wake up call as it is, the “Why tell others when you can tell mum?” campaign triggered people’s awareness to the need of mothers, not only in terms of material things, but more importantly, in emotional terms. Writing a love letter, sharing a hug, taking her for a treat, regular phone calls to her, sending a text message etc are part of the many ways through which love can be expressed to mothers.

The campaign truly revealed mothers’ unending love for their children, regardless of their age, hence, a pledge to indulge mothers is a much welcome development! Thanks to Baileys Nigeria for the re-awakening.

  • Gifting is not only necessary, it is important!

Every other day, getting gifts for mothers only goes a long way in endlessly appreciating their long standing love for their children over the years. The campaign, which has undoubtedly called for better expression of love towards mothers, has been accepted by many excited Nigerians in celebrating this year’s mothers’ day.
