The Senate has summoned the authorities of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) to clear the controversy sorrounding the alleged certificate scandal involving Senator Dino Melaye, who is representing Kogi-West senatorial district in Kogi State.
A source, who is close to the polity, on Sunday, said:
“The Senate is inviting the authorities of the Universities Dino Melaye said he attended. Specifically, the Senate is inviting Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) to clear the controversy. The truth will be cleared by ABU this week. All the allegations are rubbish, ABU will not offer anybody admission with three credits.”
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibrahim Garba, is expected to appear before the upper chamber today and explain his side of the story with respect to the allegation levelled against Melaye – that he did not graduate from the institution.
Also to appear before the Senate today is the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (retd), over allegation that Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki was on a vengeance mission against the NCS, following failure to pay Customs duty of N74 million on a N298 million Range Rover SUV.
In the meantime, the Presidency, last night, dissociated President Muhammadu Buhari from any certificate scandal in the country, saying he has none hanging on his neck.
