Police Confirm The Death Of Notorious Kidnapper, ‘Vampire’

The Commissioner of Police for  Imo State, Taiwo Lakanu, has confirmed the killing of notorious kidnap kingpin, Henry Chibueze, popularly known as Vampire.

Chibueze while facing trial in an Owerri High Court on January 27 after being arrested was rescued by gunmen suspected to be members of his gang. This led to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, immediately announcing a N5m reward to anybody that had any information that could lead to the rearrest of the 30-year-old Vampire.

CP Lakanu, while confirming the news to reporters in his Office on Thursday morning said that a combined team of the Inspector General of Police special squad, the Rivers State police command and his men had engaged Chibueze and his gang in the Ikwerre forest in Rivers state in the early hours of Thursday.

He added that while Chibueze was shot dead during the exchange of gunfire, five members of his gang were arrested together with arms and ammunitions. He, however, disclosed that the force headquarters public relations officer will be in the state at 12 noon to address a press conference.
