A notorious kidnapper and armed robber, Henry Chibueze, well known as Vampire, has been killed during a gun confrontation with the Police Special Forces led by the IGP intelligence Response Team.
The bandit, who escaped from prison custody on January 27, 2017, when some gunmen believed to be his gang members stormed the Owerri High Court in Imo State and rescued him, killing two persons while many others sustained bullet wounds, was gunned down at about 1am this morning in Omu Awa Forest, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was also gathered that five other members of his gang were also arrested by the IRT operatives led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, in Imo, Abia and Rivers States.
The Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Jimoh Moshood, revealed their names as Obinna Ela, Arinze Abecheta, Chukwu Ikeazota, Samuel Ugochukwu and Clifford Aheana, adding that they were arrested with caches of arms and ammunition.
The suspects also admitted to have carried out four kidnappings within Imo State and its environ after they rescued Vampire from prison custody.
The PRO said, “They were responsible for so many kidnap and armed robbery attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other States in the south/south and South-East where several innocent people were killed by the gang.
“They will be paraded and charged to court on completion of Investigation.”
