Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has confirmed he is not ready for a transfer to China, claiming it would spell the end of his international career.
The Belgium international was linked with a January transfer to Fabio Cannavaro’s Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, but a move failed to materialise.
“We will see but this is not a priority,” Fellaini told Sport/Foot Magazine.
“But I am honest, if I am going to China, it is finished for me the national team. The first thing I do is call the coach to tell him that I stop.”
Mourinho has kept faith in the Belgian despite widespread criticism, and Fellaini has publicly thanked his manager for the backing.
“He could have killed me, but, no, he defended me, he protected me,” Fellaini added.
“I will never forget.”
