Manchester City are weighing up a £30m move to sign Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Germany international has been identified by Pep Guardiola, who has the task of rebuilding City’s leaky defence this summer.
The Mirror claim City scouts have been watching Rudiger continuously for the several weeks and could meet the 24-year-old’s representatives as soon as next week.
Chelsea have been linked with the centre-back in the past City are determined to partner him with John Stones at the heart of their defence.
Rudiger’s versatility in being able to play right-back as well as centre-back gives him even more value to Guardiola, who is looking for defenders who can adapt to a variety of roles.
City boss Guardiola knows Rudiger well from his time at Bayern Munich, when the defender was playing for Stuttgart, before making the switch to Roma in a deal worth around £8m.
