Manchester City have been in contact with Benfica over goalkeeper Ederson, according to Record.
City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly once again in the market for a keeper with summer signing Claudio Bravo failing to impress and ultimately losing his place to number two Willy Caballero.
Ederson, a one-time target for Arsenal, is believed to have a £43m release clause in his contract.
According to the report, Benfica club president Luís Filipe Vieira has reached an informal agreement with City bosses to sell the goalkeeper at the end of the season.
Vieira was in Monaco on Wednesday night and may have further discussed the deal with Txiki Begiristain there, although he also has good relations with Monaco, and is interested in signing their 20-year-old Portuguese winger, Gil Dias.
The talented shot-stopper has made 19 appearances for Benfica in Liga NOS this season and 7 in the Champions League, including a world class performance against Borussia Dortmund in the first-leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match.
Should City sign him, it will certainly mean either Claudio Bravo, a disappointment since signing from FC Barcelona, or Willy Caballero, out of contract in summer, will depart the Etihad.
