Three suicide bombers were killed on Friday morning, in an attempt to detonate Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
It is understood that the explosion occurred on Damboa road, near a petrol station in Maiduguri.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), also revealed that three petrol tankers were destroyed as a result of the explosion.
Also in confirmation, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers around the NNPC depot on Damboa Road, Maiduguri.
The police command’s spokesman, Victor Isuku, confirmed the blasts in the early hours of today.
“Our men are still working at the scene,” NAN quoted Mr. Isuku as saying.
He promised to supply details later.
Damboa has recorded at least three bomb explosions in recent months.
