PSG right-back Thomas Meunier turned down a move to the Premier League in favour of the Ligue 1 club during the summer window, the Belgian has confirmed.
“I could choose between six or seven clubs, most of the English Premier League,” he told French outlet Telefoot. “There was interest from West Ham, Middlesbrough and Tottenham. From Italy, there was interest from Napoli, where I almost signed a contract.
“PSG were the last club to jump into the dance. Here I am statistically more likely to play in the Champions League than in Naples. That’s why I opted for PSG.”
Thomas Meunier has made 26 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions across all competitions, including five in Europe’s elite competition.
He played the entire 90 minutes in the 4-0 demolition of Barcelona earlier this month
