Real Madrid defender Pepe has doubts over a free transfer move to China at the end of the season, reports AS.
Pepe’s contract is up in June and he had seemingly decided to head to China, where Hebei China Fortune are willing to offer him a €15m-a-season deal. Real Madrid have thus far only been willing to offer him a one-year extension worth €6m.
However, the 33-year-old is now unsure, with his indecision stemming from the new rule changes regarding foreign players in China.
The Portugal defender is concerned as Hebei already have five foreign players – the maximum number permitted in a matchday squad – and the team are only allowed to line up three foreign players in their starting XI.
