Sevilla president Jose Castro hopes sought-after midfielder Steven N’Zonzi stays at the club for a long time.
The former Blackburn and Stoke man has gone from strength to strength since moving to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and he is now one of Europe’s most-coveted midfielders in Europe, with Manchester City reportedly leading the chase for his signature.
City could face a struggle to lure him to the Etihad, though, with Sevilla president Castro revealing the three-time Europa League champions have no intention of cashing in on the Frenchman.
“[N’Zonzi] is a magnificent player. If he was good before, now he is better,” he told Spanish radio station Cadena COPE.
“We want him to stay here for a long time. We need good players in order to achieve our sporting objectives.
“His [contract] renewal? The player is succeeding at Sevilla and has to think that the people want him, and that we are enjoying his game. I hope that he is here for a long time and [that he is] so happy.”
