The Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Francis Francis Mobolaji Odesanya, is reported dead.
It was gathered that he died on Tuesday morning in an undisclosed hospital abroad after a brief illness.
“He has been battling with sickness in recent times. He was in Dubai for treatment but I cannot confirm if he died in Dubai or Nigeria,” The Guardian quoted a police source as saying.
Until his death, Odesanya, who was the 37th commissioner of Rivers state, was transferred to the state in August 2016 to take over from Foluso Adebanjo who is currently a Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Odesanya joined the force on February 2, 1986, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and rose through the ranks to his current position of Commissioner of Police.
