The federal government of Nigeria has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the controversial circumstances surrounding the reported shooting of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria Reality Show in South Africa.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Abuja on Tuesday.
In the statement, the Minister ordered the NBC to determine whether Multi-Choice had breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way by shooting the show in South Africa.
It also sought to attend to the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria.
”As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” he said.
Alhaji Mohammed said while concerned Nigerians have bombarded his office lines with calls to complain about what they regard as an irregularity with regards to the development, they should remain calm while the NBC investigates the issue and submits its findings.
Also lending voice on the matter, Channels Television correspondent, Seun Okin, tweeted:
