Australian Open 2017: Serena Beats Sister Venus In Straight Sets To Win 23rd Grand Slam

It is her seventh Australian Open title and her 23rd Grand Slam title, she is American tennis star Serena Williams.

The 35-year-old beat her sister Venus Williams in straight sets, winning 6-4 6-4 to pass Steffi Graf on the all-time major winners list.

Serena is back at her No. 1 spot overtaking Angelique Kerber who crashed out earlier in the competition.

Venus Williams congratulates Serena on her 23 major titles and thanks Australia for their support: “I have been right there with you and some of the time I’ve lost them right there with you – sounds weird, but it’s true.

“I’m enormously proud of you. God willing I would love to come back.”
