ASUU Embarks On Indefinite Strike In TASUED

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), on Thursday, announced that it had embarked on total and comprehensive strike.

This was conveyed in a statement signed by the union’s chairman, Dr. Bayo Akinsanya, alleging government insensitivity to the funding of the institution, Nigerian Tribune reports.

The statement reads: “Academics in TASUED wishes to inform our dear students, parents, that the strike broke for the following reasons after several pleas to make the authorities of the state government.

“All academic activities stop immediately as the strike is comprehensive and total.”

Some of the needs of the Union are:

  • The payments of 12 months deduction to staff cooperatives
  • The non-payment of promotion arrears to academic staff
  • The non-payment of earned academic allowance
