Odegaard has failed to break into Zinedine Zidane’s side at the Santiago Bernabeu and, according to reports in Holland, Odegaard will be with the Dutch outfit for the rest of the campaign.
The highly-rated midfielder has only played once for Real in La Liga since moving to the Spanish giants in 2015, coming on as a substitute in the club’s 7-3 victory over Getafe last season.
Odegaard played the full 90 minutes when the current La Liga leaders thrashed Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey in November.
Heerenveen sit fourth in the Eredivisie, having accumulated 29 points from 19 matches. They are five points behind third-placed PSV Eindhoven and 13 off league leaders Feyenoord.
