I had already said nothing would stop me from enjoying my #WakaKenya trip made possible by Goge Africa and Magical Kenya – not even the long queues outside the Nigerian International Airport due to only “one” Airport Security Luggage Scanner System working. Luckily I caught up with my flight and the #WakaKenya party. I was in good company too – Nollywood superstars Chioma Akpotha & Uche Jombo, Goge Power couple – Isaac and Nneka Moses and Azeez Makinde (CEO, naijaloaded.com.ng) and the rest of the Goge production crew.
The flight (via Kenyan airways) was so smooth. We had a quick coffee and brunch at Java Cafe in Jomo Kenyatta Airport before commencing on our Magical Kenya trip.
I never thought it would be possible to squeeze in so much in a single day but we did, especially on our five hour drive to our tented camp in Serena Sweet Waters hotel.
We stopped to do a bit of shopping at Clemence Curio Arts & Craft center located in Nanyuki. Make sure to check them out.
We also made a quick pit-stop at the Kenyan Equator located in Nanyuki. An equator is an imaginary line around the middle earth. The equator is halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole at ‘0’ degrees latitude. The equator divides the planet into a Northern Hemisphere and a Southern Hemisphere. Areas located on the Earth’s equator have the fastest sunrises and sunsets. The time it takes for the sun to set and rise at the Equator is the fastest on Earth. The transition from day to night takes only a few minutes. Kenya is one of the seven African countries that have the equator passing through them.
We finally arrived at the gorgeous Serene Sweet Waters Hotel which would be our home for the next 2 nights. Can’t wait to tell you all about the animals we have as neighbors…
