Real starlet Martin Odegaard is expected to join Rennes on loan next month, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Norwegian wonderkid was spotted on Sunday watching Rennes’ Ligue 1 match against St Etienne, fuelling suggestions he is closing in on a move to the French club.
Rennes were linked with a loan move for him last summer, but opted against a deal in the end in order to avoid any potential problems with FIFA due to his age.
However, the playmaker will turn 18 next week and Rennes are likely to snap him up on a temporary basis when the transfer window re-opens next month.
Odegaard has only made two appearances for Real Madrid since joining from Stromsgodset in January 2015 and it’s key for his development to get familiar with first division football
With Odegaard turning 18 on December 17, he will be legible to make the switch once the January transfer window opens.
Earlier on in the campaign former Manchester United and Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre, who is an adviser at Rennes, made it clear he was a target for the club.
Silvestre said: “We have not forgotten about him and in January we will see if there is another chance to sign him.”
