Nathan Ake is very determined to earn a future at his parent club Chelsea – but believes comparisons with Blues legend Ruud Gullit are far-fetched.
Ake and Gullit are also both Dutch, although the latter achieved top accolades during his illustrious career at club and international level.
His understudy impressed on loan at Watford last season and has shone again this term with Bournemouth, as Ake looks to prove himself for Antonio Conte.
However, for now the 21-year-old accepts it will be too difficult to earn a place in Chelsea’s first XI.
He said: “I know of Ruud Gullit but not much. I am not the new Ruud Gullit.
“As for the hair I didn’t do it because of him. When I was young, I had short hair and dad used to do it every morning.
“When I went abroad and he couldn’t do it, he just said make dreads.
“Every player wants to play for the team they are at but Chelsea is a big club and, at my age, it’s difficult to break through.”
