Manchester United legend Gary Neville has labeled midfielder Marouane Fellaini an idiot” after their draw with Everton.
The former Red Devils doesn’t lay any of the blame for the late substitute giving away penalty on manager Jose Mourinho, and thinks an experienced international should know better.
‘It [his introduction] was purely to deal with the long balls into the box. You can see the sense in it but when he goes on and does such an idiotic thing like that,’ Neville said on Sky Sports.
‘It was really poor from an experienced international. You can’t blame the management, it’s just a poor moment.’
Fellaini, who left Goodison Park for Old Trafford with David Moyes, brought down Idrissa Gueye in the penalty area before Leighton Baines expertly put the penalty away.
“He played here before, he knows the ground, and he knows the crowd, it’s just a poor moment, an individual moment. It’s no reflection on the manager,” Neville continued.
“He made the substitution for the right reasons and he’s been let down by his player.”
