Diego Costa has stated that Chelsea were handed the win at Etihad due to the poor finishing of the hosts.
Gary Cahill’s own goal put City ahead in the closing stages of the first half, and City lost the chance to extend their lead in the second half, missing clear goal chances.
Kevin De Bruyne’s miss in the 57th minute came as a shock, with the midfielder hitting the crossbar four yards out with Courtois already beaten.
Costa got the equaliser for Chelsea on the hour mark, before assisting Willian’s goal, which pit the blues ahead.
Eden Hazard then ensured Chelsea would earn all three points with a goal of his own, as Conte’s men won 3-1.
“We are working very well tactically, everyone knows what we have got to do,” Diego Costa told Sky Sports afterwards. “Manchester City had opportunities to score a second goal, but they missed.
“We got more confidence when we levelled the scoring, then got another opportunity to score and we took it.
“It was a great game.”
Cahill, meanwhile, enthused about Chelsea’s overall performance and believes they showed the requisite character to further extend their unbeaten run.
“We gave everything on the pitch,” the defender added. “It was a test for us. It shows another side to our football.
“That is eight wins now, which we can build on.”
