Alan Pardew spent over £50m on new players in the summer window but the Crystal Palace manager admits he will be looking to bring in more new faces during the January transfer window.
He said: “We need to do something in this window, a lot of teams will move. It’s so tight from eighth down. We need to stay with the pack.
“If you stand still you’ll go backwards. A left-footed defender would be important this window, but it’s not easy to get one.
“The Connor Wickham injury may force us to act in that department too, but it’s not easy. We’re hunting in a big market and hopefully we’ll get the one that fits for us.”
Pardew admitted he was under pressure before a run of six successive Premier League defeats was halted by a 3-0 home victory over Southampton last weekend.
The win lifted Palace up to 14th in the table.
Palace will look to build on last weekend’s result when they travel to second-bottom Hull City on Saturday
