Ross Barkley faces a defining 18-month spell of his career at Everton, according to Rob Draper of the Daily Mail.
Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, Draper feels the England international’s diminishing role under Ronald Koeman could ultimately result in him leaving the club.
“Long term I’d be surprised if Barkley was a feature of Ronald Koeman’s team at Everton,” he said.
“You can see Koeman is pushing him and being hard on him, he obviously feels he hasn’t developed and should have developed more than he has.
“He’s not going to ditch him right now because clearly he’s talented and Koeman needs him. I don’t get the feeling Koeman is completely convinced about Barkley.
“I’d be surprised if, in 18 months if Koeman is still manager if Barkley is there. This is such an important 18 months for Ross Barkley’s career. What trajectory will it go on?”
