The Super Eagles of Nigeria have continued their rise in the latest FIFA Ranking which saw the team jump 10 places from 60th to 50th in the world and 6th in Africa.
The Super Eagles top their 2018 World Cup qualifying group and have won their last two games against former African champions Zambia and north African powerhouse, Algeria, the rise in the rankings is perceived to be connected to this recent run of form.
There was a lot of movement at the top of the rankings as four of the top five teams switched positions.
Argentina remain the number 1 team in the world with bitter rivals Brazil climbing up one spot to second place. Germany drop one place from second to third with fprmer number one side Belgium dropping from fourth to fifth despite an 8-1 trashing of Estonia during the last set of qualifiers. Chile complete the top five as they moved up two spots from sixth to fourth.
