Juan Mata says he did not lose any sleep over Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United despite longstanding reports of a rift between the pair from their time at Chelsea.
Mourinho dropped the Spaniard when he was in charge at Stamford Bridge and then sold him to United.
“Too many things were said. Too many stories were created as well – lies,” said Mata.
“When the manager came in I was always thinking the same as I have always, I am going to give my best, and I believe in myself and I think this can work out.
“The truth is that nothing happened. I came here to play for Manchester United, as one more of the players in the squad and that is it. I started training from the first day I arrived to get fit and be ready, and that is the case now.
“He didn’t sit down with me, no…I have said this before and I will say it again – it is a professional relationship. That is it.”
