Jose Mourinho is lining up one of his Chelsea favourites as he bids to right the Manchester United ship in January.
According to the Daily Star , the Portuguese has his eye on Brazilian winger Willian – but the 28-year-old could set the Old Trafford club back as much as £40million.
Under new coach Antonio Conte, Willian has found himself frozen out of the team since the Italian has switched to his new three man defensive system, with Spaniard Pedro preferred in the wide role that the Brazilian normally occupies.
Willian only signed a new four-year deal at Stamford Bridge in July, but Mourinho is ready to test the waters with Chelsea with a January move for a player who has not started a league match since the beginning of October.
But United have struggled for creativity this season and have only scored 17 times in their first 12 Premier League games.
Willian would offer another option to Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who returned to first team action against Feyenoord.
