Frank de Boer’s short stint as Inter Milan head coach has come an end.
It is understood De Boer has been sacked and Stefano Vecchi – the youth team manager – will take charge for the Southampton game on Thursday.
De Boer lost seven of his 14 games in charge.
Reports in Italy said De Boer was to be fired during a phone call with the club’s Chinese owners.
The Suning Holdings Group bought a majority share in the club in June and has acted quickly with the side languishing in 12th place in Serie A.
De Boer was linked with the vacant Everton job when Roberto Martinez was sacked but the Goodison Park club opted for his countryman Ronald Koeman.
The Ajax and Barcelona legend was at the training ground on Tuesday morning to say goodbye to his players and staff.
