Former Arsenal player, Ian Wright has further stoked the rivalry between Spurs and Gunners ahead of the North London derby today, saying he hopes his former team ‘absolutely smash’ hotspurs.
The two London clubs head into the intense premier league match with a gulf in form despite being separated by just three points on the table.
Arsenal who are third on the table with a game in hand are on a 15-game unbeaten run in all competitions, while Spurs, sitting fifth on the table are without a win in their last six games.
And despite being a pundit for BBC and BT Sport, Wright has opted against showing neutrality and instead expressed his desire to see Arsenal not just beat Spurs, but do so by a wide margin.
Wright told The Sun: “I really want them to hammer Spurs and absolutely smash them!
“Arsenal have goals in their team — they are feeling confident and flying.
“Top players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are in inspirational form. There are goals everywhere in the team.
“And because Vincent Janssen hasn’t been scoring for Tottenham, it doesn’t give Harry Kane the time to stay on the sidelines and get himself right.
“The pressure will be on Kane when he comes back because the team need to start scoring goals.”
