Guus Hiddink Linked With Vacant Inter Milan Job

After sacking Frank de Boer yesterday, could Inter Milan turn to another Dutchman?

Reports in Italy have linked former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink with the role.

Hiddink, who turns 70 next week, is apparently among the contenders along with former Parma and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli.

De Boer paid the price for losing four of his last five Serie A matches, a run that leaves the Nerazzurri down in 12th place and 13 points behind leaders Juventus.

While Inter’s Italian directors are understood to favour former Parma and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli, a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport said the club’s Chinese owners would prefer to hire a manager of international renown, noting how Hiddink’s advisor Kia Joorabchian has links to the Zhang family.

Youth team coach Stefano Vecchi has been handed interim control of the senior side and will be in charge for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Southampton.

Inter host last-placed Crotone in the league on Sunday in their final match before the international break. When they return to domestic action, a derby meeting with AC Milan awaits.
