Arsenal and Chelsea are both monitoring the situation of young Atalanta centre-back Mattia Caldara, according to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport.
However, the Premier League duo are set to have to battle it out with Serie A champions Juventus for the Italy U21 international’s signature.
The 22-year-old has a contract at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia until the summer of 2021.
Caldera is a 6ft 1in in centre-back who came through the academy at Atalanta.
He made his league debut back in 2013 and has played eight times in total for La Dea.
Caldara has been a regular in the side this season, making seven appearances.
He has a great scoring record for a centre-half as well, netting in three of his last four matches.
Caldara has had loan spells at both Trapani and Cesena and played nine times for Italy under-21s.
