Two Milan officials scouted Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on Tuesday night, according to La Repubblica.
The Serie A side are long-term admirers of the Croatia international and were interested in signing him on loan during the summer transfer window.
They have revived their interest in the former Inter Milan midfielder and sent two officials, Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli, to keep an eye on him during Real’s 2-1 defeat of Sporting on Tuesday night.
Kovacic largely struggled to gain a regular spot in the Real Madrid XI last season, but he has already made 15 appearances this term after taking advantage of midfield injuries for Los Blancos.
Kovacic, 22, is under contract until 2021.
