Victor Moses Could Be Banned After Turning Down Super Eagles Call Up

Chelsea star Victor Moses is reportedly at risk of being banned for their match against Leicester City after turning down a call-up to the Nigeria squad.

According to Complete Sports Nigeria, the Nigerian FA doesn’t entirely believe that the winger was injured – and are set to launch an investigation in to the matter.

Watford’s Isaac Success is also under suspicion.

If it is found that either of the pair lied to get out of international duty, then FIFA could hand out a domestic suspension to the guilty party.

Moses has been in fine form for the Blues, coming to the fore under new manager Antonio Conte.

FIFA regulation on feigning injury in international breaks

A player who has been called up by his association for one of its representative teams is, unless otherwise agreed by the relevant association, not entitled to play for the club… during the period for which he has been released or should have been released.
This restriction on playing for the club shall, moreover, be prolonged by five days in the event that the player, for whatsoever reason, did not wish to or was unable to comply with the call-up.

However, this development could be a major blow to the 25-year-old, who has been either loaned out or a bit-part player for the vast majority of his four-year Chelsea career.

The Londoners face Leicester, who they beat 4-2 after extra time in the third round of the EFL Cup last month, knowing that they need to dispatch the Premier League champions to continue recovering from straight defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool.
