Sunderland are looking to warn off interest in Jordan Pickford by offering the young goalkeeper an improved contract, according to the Sunday People.

The 22-year-old has stepped into a starting role this season and has reportedly caught the eye at Man City, who let Joe Hart leave on loan and signed Claudio Bravo to replace him.

Also The Mirror report Pickford, who is under contract until 2020, is comfortable with the ball at his feet and that makes him an ideal target for Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

Ronald Koeman’s Toffees are also monitoring his progress, while Manchester United have been long-term admirers.

But David Moyes is equally aware that Pickford needs to add to his experience and will benefit by playing for the Wearsiders rather than adding to the squad numbers at the Etihad.
