Steve Bruce has revealed he’d like to be the new manager of Aston Villa, after confirming he had talks with them.
“I’ve had a chat with him, and that’s as far as it’s gone,” he said when asked about the job opening.
“They did say there were in a process, which you have to respect. I’m hoping that I’ll hear something this week”
“It’d be a terrific job – I’m sure everyone would agree, it’s one of the big clubs in this country.”
“It needs a little bit of turning around at the moment, but they’ve got a huge support. It’s a big club, so let’s hope I hear something this week.”
Steve Bruce eager for Aston Villa job
Bruce once managed Villa’s fierce rivals Birmingham, but believes that won’t be a problem.
“Most people have come to accept that it was ten years ago,” he said, comparing his case to Alex McLeish, who left Birmingham for Villa.
“Alex walked from one into the other. But there are people who have been working there for years who have been involved with both.
“I don’t think in this day and age it’d be a big problem – I’d hope not anyway.”
