Schalke are reportedly looking to activate their option to buy Nabil Bentaleb from Tottenham.
The midfielder is currently on a season-long loan with Schalke, with the Daily Mirror reporting there is an option for a £17m permanent deal next summer.
It is said Schalke have already decided they want to keep Bentaleb.
Bentaleb hit out at Spurs fans earlier this month , claiming they were ‘fickle’.
“Even if Tottenham were on top of the league, I would not regret my transfer,” he said.
“We fight and I believe that’s also the reason that the fans support us.
“I don’t know that from England. If you lose there, nobody supports you in the stadium.”
Schalke and Nabil endured a rough start that had them down in the Bundesliga’s relegation zone at the beginning of the season. But it appears they’ve turned things around, in large part thanks to the play of Bentaleb. The club from Gelsenkirchen have won 4 of their last 5 games in the league.
