A police officer of the Anambra State Police Command, identified as Prapra, shot a Ghanaian man on Tuesday at the Aroma area of Awka, Anambra State.

The Ghanaian man, identified as Andem, who was an electrician was shot in the neck and rushed to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ohujwu Teaching Hospital in Awka by members of the public, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by doctors.

An eyewitness who didn’t want to be named told reporters that there was no reason for the incident. He explained that it was how that particular policeman regularly behaves, he comes around the area and just shoots indiscriminately.

The policeman shoots sporadically with his service pistol each time he visits the area. He is a drunk and each time he is inebriated, he behaves abnormally. He has been terrorizing us. Everybody knows him around here because of his erratic behavior.” He said.

The Police command is yet to make a statement regarding the incident.
