Manchester United are set to offer midfielderJuan Mata new deal – months after many expected new boss Jose Mourinho to sell him
The Spaniard, whose contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the next season, looked as though his days at Untied were numbered following Mourinho’s appointment this summer.
But, after a run of fine performances, it appears Mourinho will not do what he did during his time at Chelsea and sell the 28-year-old.
Instead, Mata is in line for bumper new contract that is likely to extend his stay at the club for another four years.
With Captain Wayne Rooney’s form being so inconsistent, the 28-year-old is playing in his preferred role of attacking midfielder. He is clearly relishing the role and is quickly becoming an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
With 2 goals and 1 assist from 6 top flight appearances so far this season, the bigwigs are starting to take notice. It is obvious that the manager now see’s a place for Mata in the clubs future, so a new contract is now in the works.
