Lorenzo Insigne could be on his way to Anfield after his reported wage demands of £100,000-a-week were turned down by the club.
The attacking midfielder, who can also operate as a forward, is valued at around £44m, a price tag which may have to be negotiated should the Premier League side continue with their pursuit.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp has shown interest in Insigne in the past as he looks to bring in reinforcements to help strengthen his attacking options.
But Napoli have already stressed that they will demand around £44million for Insigne – a sky-high fee which will not sit easily with the Liverpool hierarchy.
The club have also been linked again with another hitman, AIK Gothenburg’s rising star Alexander Isak, who has been dubbed the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But Isak, just 17, is also on the radar of both Manchester United and Paris St Germain.
