Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League game with Fenerbahce and he’s given an update on Henrikh Mkhitaryan – a man who’s made only one start so far, against Manchester City.
“He was injured and he was injured for quite a long time. Now, he’s not injured anymore.
“He’s training with the team without any limitation. I cannot confirm if he’s [ready] for tomorrow or not, but he’s fit and it’s now time for him to go back to the levels we know that he can achieve.”
The 27-year-old did not travel for Armenia’s two World Cup qualifiers during the international break and instead remained in Manchester to have his injury assessed by United’s medical team.
Mkhitaryan arrived at United amid much fanfare in the summer from Borussia Dortmund and, despite a slow start, has his manager’s confidence.
Mourinho also expressed his satisfaction with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact, despite the Swede going four Premier League games without a goal.
“He is giving us exactly what we need and expected from him,” Mourinho added.
“It’s quite beautiful for me to meet him five or six years later and to find the same ambition, passion and desire to play and compete. He’s really fit and always ready to play.”
