The Islamic State (ISIS) has executed nine of its members by submerging them in trenches filled with burning oil for fleeing the battles in central Mosul, Iraqi media outlets announced on Tuesday.
The 9 fighters of the depraved death cult were gruesomely murdered as punishment for attempting to flee Mosul, which is under siege by US-backed Iraqi forces.
Local media, Al Sumaria News revealed that:
“ISIS terrorist gangs executed nine of its members for fleeing the battle against the security forces in Mosul, by throwing them in trenches containing a burning oil, after tying their hands and legs.”
“ISIS used the burning oil trenches to impede the visibility of the Iraqi Air Force and international coalition air force.”
It is believed that in the past week, 90 villages and towns previously under ISIS control have been liberated.
As troops encroach on Mosul, ISIS is said to have begun routinely burning oil trenches to create vast amounts of smoke to impede the vision of Iraqi and US jets.
The jihadis are reportedly using civilians as human shields as they attempt to flee enemy invasions unscathed.
UN human rights spokesman Rupert Coville, said:
“We also continue to receive information that reinforces the belief that ISIL are deliberately using civilians as human shields – forcing them to move to sites where ISIL fighters are based, or preventing them from leaving other places for strategic reasons.”
