Chelsea 4 – 0 Manchester United: Mourinho Humbled On Stamford Bridge Return

Chelsea recorded a superb 4-0 victory as they hosted Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

It was Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s first match back as Stamford Bridge since he was sacked by Chelsea in December 2015.

Mourinho’s is Chelsea’s most successful manager ever, winning 7 trophies with the club, including 3 league titles.

The match started on the worst note possible for United, with Pedro scoring after just 30 seconds. Marcos Alonso clipped the ball forward to the Spanish forward, and an error from Chris Smalling allowed him to beat an on-rushing David De Gea and slot in to an empty post.

Gary Cahill made it 2-0 after, and second-half goals from Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante ensured a perfect evening for the Blues.

Mourinho said after the game: “It’s one of these days where you give the advantage to the opponent by doing nothing. They were defensively compact and defended well. We made incredible defensive mistakes and you pay for that.”
