Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl says it will be “tricky” to do a permanent deal for Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.

The Denmark international is in the second part of a two-year loan deal with Gladbach.

The Denmark international has impressed in Germany and was named Gladbach’s Player of the Year last season.

Chelsea want the defender to return to Stamford Bridge next summer, but Gladbach have shown they want to keep hold of the 20-year-old.

And now the Bundesliga club’s sporting director has revealed they have put themselves in a position to sign the defender, but convincing Chelsea to sell him remains tricky.

And Eberl told German newspaper Express: “It is a tricky situation. We’ve positioned ourselves. We need to see when and how we can turn it into reality. We have a very good relationship with Chelsea.”
