Arda Turan has revealed that Barcelona turned down a big-money offer from China for him last season.
The Turkish midfielder struggled to fit in during his first campaign at the Nou Camp following his switch from Atletico, but has improved in this campaign.
He made only nine La Liga starts over the remainder of the season as he struggled to force his way into Luis Enrique’s plans, leading to speculation he could be sold.
The Turkey international was linked with a move to Beijing Guoan, and he has now confirmed there was a firm offer which Barca rebuffed.
“Last season, a club from China have offered €50m to Barcelona for me but they rejected it because I’m a long term project,” he told Turkish outlet Beyaz TV. “Barcelona didn’t sign me just for 6 months.”
