What happens when you put Will Smith, Kate Winslet, Keira Knightley, Edward Norton, Naomi Harris and Helen Mirren in the same movie? You guessed right! Excellent acting worthy of the Academy Awards. That is exactly what Will Smith’s new movie Collateral Beauty is set to do.
The movie which is scheduled to be released on December 16 is definitely going to be a hit not just because of its ensemble cast but also because it touches on a different premise. Despite the fact that the movie will face major challenges at the Box office with several other exciting movies that will be released during that time, Collateral Beauty is expected to stand tall because of its heartbreaking premise.
The movie follows the story of Howard Inlet (Will Smith), a New York advertising executive, after a tragic event causes him to go on a downward spiral into other events in depression, tragedy, romantic tendencies and hope. This causes him to question what he calls the three pillars of humanity, what connects each and every person on Earth: Love, Time, and Death.
While he tries to re-evaluate everything in his life, his Colleagues Whit Yardsham (Edward Norton), Simon Scot (Michael Peña) and Claire Wilson (Kate Winslet) all have an elaborate plan to help him recover from his personal tragedy.
As an advertising executive, Will Smith’s character’s obsession with abstractions and how Love, time and Death are connected sets of a chain of events where people who represent these vague concepts come to reality. Helen Mirren plays the role of Death, Keira Knightley represents love and Jacob Latimore plays a hapless young teenager who represents time.
Collateral Beauty is directed by David Frankel and is written by Allan Loeb. It is left to be seen if truly the movie is worthy of the Oscars or if it is only baiting the awards shamelessly.
