Deji Ayoola, a 28-year-old man arrested by the police in Lagos state for theft allegedly stole money from the police officer that was interrogating him.
The suspect was arrested by men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in the Ojodu Berger area of the state for allegedly stealing from a commuter and was being interrogated at the RRS office in Alausa, Ikeja where he is said to have stolen N 1,200 that fell from the policewoman’s pocket.
Ayoola was arrested for stealing a wallet containing the sum of N14,500 from a passerby identified as a Mr Ayodele Akerele before he was arrested, he was being questioned by the RRS at their Ikeja office. The policewoman handling the questioning tried to get her mobile phone from her pocket and the cash of N 1,200 fell to the ground, when the money dropped to the floor, Ayoola allegedly picked it but was exposed a couple minutes later by another suspect.
“It was the devil who pushed me into the act” was Ayoola’s excuse.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos said the suspect had been transferred to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit for prosecution.
