Officers of the Kano State Police Command have apprehended three housewives in connection with the alleged attempted murder of a girl.
It was gathered that the accused persons allegedly threw a little girl into an old well in Gayawa village, Ungoggo Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking on Tuesday to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano, the command’s spokesman, DSP Magaji Majiya, disclosed that the girl, who was thrown into the well about a week ago, had spent two days inside it.
The girl was then rescued alive by men of the state Fire Service, while the police arrested the suspects on Sunday following complaint by the father of the girl.
He said: “We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us with our investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Yusuf has directed the transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department, for proper investigation.”
The command’s spokesman also stated that after the full investigation, anyone found guilty would face the long arm of the law.
