Snoop Dogg To Be Honoured With Iconic Award At The 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards

West-Coast rap-god and Dr Dre prodigy, Snoop Dogg, is the recipient of the iconic “I Am Hip Hop” award at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2016 .

Snoop Dogg’s selection is encompassed in his over twenty-five years musical career since his debut album, Doggystyle, released under Death Row Records in 1993. The album placed at Number 1 on the Billboard 200, sold over 800,000 copies in its first week and became certified 4-times platinum in 1994.

BET announced on Tuesday, September 13, “Snoop has transcended time and rap trends as a lasting influencer in the hip-hop community. His accomplishments are vast and he is beyond deserving of this year’s I Am Hip Hop Icon Award.”

The 45-year-old entertainment icon and legendary rapper will be joining the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Ice Cube and LL Cool J who received the awards in 2006, 2009 and 2011 respectively.

DJ Khaled Will Host The BET Hip Hop Awards For The First Time

The BET “Hip Hop Awards” 2016 will be hosted by DJ Khaled – who is a first time host – and will tape on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at its new venue, The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

It will premiere on BET on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 8.00 PM ET.

The “King of the South” T.I. is confirmed to perform; Atlanta’s own Gucci Mane marks his long awaited return to the stage; Travis Scott will bring another hot performance; as well as performances by Young Thug and Desiigner. Presenters for the BET “HIP HOP AWARDS” 2016 include the star of Empire and BET’s The New Edition Story, Bryshere Y. Gray and rapper and actor Shameik Moore.
