The man who took the Czech Republic No 1 shirt off replaced Petr Cech wants to follow in the Arsenal goalkeeper’s footsteps by moving to the Premier League.
Tomas Vaclik who currently plays for FC Basel in under contract at the Swiss champions until 2021 but he has revealed he harbours aspirations of moving to England.
“I love England,” he is quoted by talkSPORT. “I love the culture of the football here and everything around the Premier League – the atmosphere in the stadiums and even out of the stadiums in the cities.
“Since I was a child I have had a dream to play in the Premier League as I think it is the most difficult league for the goalkeeper. I would like to see if I can play on this level. It would be nice to play here.”
The 27-year-old has replaced his hero as the next long-term national number one after the former Chelsea man announced his international retirement back in July following Euro 2016.
He added: “Petr has helped my career a lot.
“But the pressure is more now as I know everyone will compare me with him and I do not want people to have opportunity to say ‘we are missing Petr’.
