In June, The Cavaliers came back from 3-1 down to beat the Warriors in the NBA Finals ending a 52-year championship drought in the city of Cleveland.
This was a great occasion in the city and brought about glorious celebrations all around Cleveland. Now Owner Dan Gilbert is making sure everyone that was involved with the team’s title run will get a ring.
All employees who work in the team’s Quicken Loans Arena and with the Cavaliers organisation will be getting an NBA championship ring.
Cleveland Cavaliers giving away 1,000 rings
More than 1,000 championship rings will be given to full and part-time workers. These including janitors, ticket takers, security guards, ushers and vendors. It should be noted that the rings the employees would be getting will not be the exact same ring as the ones the NBA would be giving to the Cavaliers team. Gilbert and his partners are however spending $1m on the rings for staff.
The Cavaliers have also offered original Championship rings to ex-coach David Blatt. Blattwas fired in the middle of the season and now coaches in the Turkish Basketball league. Former big man Anderson Varejao was also offered a ring. Varejao also signed for would-be finals opponent Warriors in February.
