Inter Milan defender Miranda has been named as replacement for Neymar in the captain capacity at Brazil.

Neymar chose to step down from his post as captain, after leading the selecao to gold at the Rio Olympics.

The Selecao met Ecuador on Thursday hoping to get their qualification campaign back on track with what would be their first win at the altitude of the Ecuadorian capital in 33 years.

“It is the greatest time for us to reply. The fans want us to give them answers,” Miranda continued.

“We will go in search of victory and playing good football. Tite has us fully prepared we are ready to put that work into practice.

“We must be well organised and that is what we have been working over the past few days, being organised at the back and launching surprise counterattacks.
